I have been wanting to start this project for a very long time and I am so excited to finally share it with everyone . . . the Hue & You blog!
There have been a lot of exciting things happening at Salt and Light Web Design, and I can't wait to tell you about them in our very first blog post.
We Rebranded!
One of the exciting updates that I get to share in this post is that we have officially rebranded! This has been in the works for a while and it feels so good to share our new website and branding with everyone.

The previous logo for Salt and Light Web Design was something I had made quickly so that I could start my business as soon as possible. Now that we've been in business for several years, our brand has matured and we have outgrown our previous branding.
The new logo draws focus to the actual name of my business, whereas the previous logo brings your attention to the SL initials. That is not necessarily a bad thing for a logo, but since I wasn't an established brand at that point, I wish I would have focused on bringing more attention to my business's name instead before focusing on initials.
I am very passionate about the new colors of the rebranding and I took time when choosing them to make sure they accurately represented my brand. I wanted colors that made my brand feel approachable, fun, friendly, and professional. The warm, rich brown was chosen as a primary color for the rebrand because it is a solid color that represents warmth, comfort, and security. When I work with my clients, I want them to know that they can trust me with their website and with their branding.
The bright teal was chosen to be a second primary color for the rebrand because it is known to provide a sense of calmness, sophistication, and balance. Something I have encountered repeatedly in the design industry is having clients come to me after having a bad experience with a larger scale design company. They were often confused and left to figure out issues themselves, resulting in frustration and chaos.
I chose teal because I wanted to convey the sense of calmness and balance that my clients receive when working with me. My heart behind Salt and Light Web Design is that all my clients know that they're important, valued, and know that their brand is in good hands.
What is Hue & You?
Throughout my years as a website designer, I have encountered a range of clients who come to me because they want something more from their website. They don't want a canned template or have to know how to code. They want a website that is unique and one of a kind, just like their brands.

Branding is critical in the design world since your brand is how people are going to recognize your business. Anytime you see that multicolored square with a polaroid icon, you know it's Instagram. When you see that familiar red bullseye, you know it's Target. I could give you a dozen more examples, but you get the point . . . your brand matters.
Hue & You is where I'll be sharing my personal experiences on how color and design meet creative expression, helping you to create a brand that is unique and engaging. I wanted to create a platform where I provide insight into how design is incorporated in every aspect of your brand, the power of color, and so much more. My hope is that this becomes a community of designers, business owners, and anyone who wants to learn more about design and the branding industry!
